Better than Krispy Kreme?

After leaving a med appointment, just as we were heading out of the parking lot, I noticed the infamous Duck Donuts sign.  WHAT…?  

 

There was no way in the world I was about to get back on that highway without first stopping to try this place.  I’d heard of them for a while, but never ventured in.  Today was different, I was absolutely deserving of the best sweets Reston, Virginia had to offer – after all I’ve been through lately … ? Please!  Stop this car!

Duck Donuts are made to order… you order them, they then fry, glaze and cover them in whatever your pleasure and Voila!  Delectable Donut Deliciousness, hot and amazing.

Living in the DMV, I am an avid fan of Krispy Kreme donuts – only when the “Hot” light is on of course…. but these… shamefully, I have to say it…. I prefer them.  They are cake donuts – so light and flavorful, you can smell the butter and vanilla as soon as you walk in the door.

We tried a few flavors…the Maple Glazed, Bacon Topped were our favorites.  The Vanilla Glazed, Cinnamon Sugar Topped were a close second.

If you’re in the area and deserving of a sweet treat, DO IT!  If however, you are starting a healthy eating plan – understanding it is the beginning of the year and all, stay Far, Far away from this place!

I repeat – Stay Far, Far Away!
